Warner Bros Removes Batman: Arkham Knight From Sale On PC Following Performance Issues

Things continue to go from bad to worse for the Dark Knight, as Warner Bros has taken decisive action and removed Batman: Arkham Knight from sale on PC. The PC version of Rocksteady’s adventure has been plagued with performance issues, accruing a ‘Mostly Negative’ rating on Steam. More than 6,000 of the 9,000 reviews currently live are negative, with users suggesting it's “One of the worst PC ports of all time,” and “Even AAA developers are making early access games now.”

“We want to apologize to those of you who are experiencing performance issues with Batman: Arkham Knight on PC,” reads the statement from Warner Bros. “We take these issues very seriously and have therefore decided to suspend future game sales of the PC version while we work to address these issues to satisfy our quality standards.

“We greatly value our customers and know that while there are a significant amount of players who are enjoying the game on PC, we want to do whatever we can to make the experience better for PC players overall.”

A quick visit over to Steam reveals Batman: Arkham Knight has indeed been removed from sale, along with a number of other digital storefronts. If you’re keen to pick up the Bats’ latest despite the performance issues, however, you can still pick Batman: Arkham Knight keys up from various key sellers.

The move comes after a pretty disastrous launch all round for the PC version of Batman: Arkham Knight, with the 30 frames per second frame rate cap just the tip of the iceberg. Serious stuttering and memory leaks are occurring even on the most powerful of systems, after Warner Bros outsourced the PC port to Iron Galaxy Studios, a 12-person team responsible for iOS and previous-generation console ports.

It's a double-edged sword for Warner Bros now. It's at least taken a proactive move and removed a below-par port from sale, but it's also an open admittance that the Batman: Arkham Knight PC port wasn't given the time and attention deserving of a £39.99 title.
