MIUI Operations Manager for Xiaomi confirmed on Weibo that the rumor is in fact quite solid and the update is in the final stages of development.
He went on to explain that the upgrade validation has almost been finalized and the actual consumer version is soon to be released. In fact, the release could come out as soon as tonight. He even released a screenshot showing MIUI 5.12.24 update based on Android 6.0.
When Xiaomi unveiled their brand new MIUI 7 ROM, many fans were disappointed to see that most of the devices which were going to get the new update would be stuck on Android 4.4 Kitkat, instead of 5.0 Lollipop. At that time, Xiaomi had assured the customers about the Android version as the features of the MIUI 7 would be the same on all devices.
This comes as a positive event for many Mi 3, Mi 4 and Mi Note users stuck onto Android 4.4. Within a matter of few months (confirmed), the update will come along to your smartphone in the new year!
What about redmi 2 prime users...?
