It seemed like an absolute no-brainer that we’d be getting
story-based single-player DLC for Grand Theft Auto V at some point. Here we are
though, nearly two years down the line, and we haven’t heard so much as a peep
from Rockstar. Now, however, voice and motion capture actor Shawn Fonteno, the
man behind Franklin Clinton, has teased a picture of himself in a mocap suit,
in front of a GTA poster.
The image on Instagram is accompanied by the message
“Shhhh.....YALL KNOW WHY I GOT THIS SUIT ON”, prompting rumours that Rockstar
is planning an expansion pack for GTA 5, complete with the original cast
returning.
By now practically everybody who’s picked up a copy of Grand
Theft Auto 5 on PC or console has no doubt soldiered through to the end of the
story and will be champing at the bit for more. It seems an age ago now, but
Rockstar did say shortly after GTA 5’s 2013 launch that a substantial story
add-on would be arriving, on top of the already released Grand Theft Auto Online
Heists.
With the PC version out the way and Online Heists available
for all platforms, the slate is nearly clear for Rockstar to get heavily
involved in an expansion. Previous rumours had suggested a plot involving
Russian and Korean gangs, along with a number of new heists planned.
Coming this far after its launch, we wouldn’t be surprised
to see the single-player expansion become a standalone game. Whether that’s a
Episodes from Liberty City type situation or a full-blown spin-off like Vice
City remains to be seen.
