Obviously somebody let the zombified cat out of the bag a
little early with those screenshots last week, but Capcom has now confirmed
Resident Evil Zero HD is coming, and also sent along a tasty looking trailer
for the survival horror prequel.
Resident Evil Zero was previously exclusive to Gamecube and
Wii, so this is the first time non-Nintendo gamers can see where the horror
began, in a story taking place two months before the events at the infamous
Spencer Mansion. The HD remaster gives RE: Zero the same treatment as Resident
Evil HD got earlier this year, upressing the visuals, offering modern controls,
and even providing the choice for 16:9 widescreen mode.
Originally released back in 2002, Resident Evil Zero is
actually a bit of an underrated gem, pioneering some of the dual-player
gameplay which would become a series staple. Players take on the roles of both
officer Rebecca Chambers and convict Billy Coen, with the opportunity to switch
between the players at will to solve puzzles and stab zombies in the head.
Resident Evil Zero HD is coming to PC, PlayStation 4,
PlayStation 3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360 in early 2016. Pleased this old-school
survival horror prequel is going to make it to PC at last? Would you like to
see other Resident Evils given the HD treatment?
