Blitzkrieg 3, the thinking man’s wargame, has bombarded Steam with a round of Early Access
shells. Nival’s real time strategy series is an intoxicating mix of base
building and historic battles, with a hefty nod to authenticity.
I dimly remember the original Blitzkrieg titles being hard
as nails, but the tactical battles won me over. Blitzkrieg 3’s taking a
slightly different tack, however. Billed as an MMORTS, Blitzkrieg 3 features
asynchronous multiplayer whereby gigantic bases can built and then be tested
against foes while you’re away.
“The best way to get the game that you want is to take
part in the development process” said Sergey Orlowskiy, the CEO and founder
of Nival. “Steam Early Access is the perfect portal for players to become
involved, to play the game and provide us with invaluable feedback on how and
where they would like to see Blitzkrieg 3 go.”
Nival’s targeting a proper launch of Blitzkrieg 3 in about
four of five months, with the final game featuring a hefty single-player
campaign covering the entirety of World War II, from the invasion of Poland
through until the fall of Berlin.
Blitzkrieg 3’s available now for £22.99/$29.99, and up until
May 12th you can net yourself free copies of the original games if you grab it.
