BlackBerry CEO John Chen has shown he knows how to get tongues wagging, hinting that an Android-powered BlackBerry handset could be in the works.
Asked whether the Canadian firm was interested in building a mobile running a complete version of the Android operating system, he said yes.
However, there’s just one catch.
“We only build secure phones and BlackBerry is the most secure phone so, if I can find a way to secure the Android phone, I will also build that,” said Chen, according to AndroidAuthority.
In case you didn’t pick up on that, it all depends on security.
Alleged specifications for the much-rumoured BlackBerry Android smartphone leaked last week, pointing to a slider equipped with a 5.4-inch QHD display, a Snapdragon 808 CPU and 3GB of RAM.
It’s also said to feature an 18-megapixel main camera, and has been tipped for a November launch.
