Oculus will be hosting its very own press conference in the
run-up to E3, the VR headset creator has announced. The press event is set to
take place in San Francisco on June 11th, just a few days before E3 2015 kicks
off.
The invitation asks potential attendees to “Step into the
Rift”, hinting this could be a full Oculus Rift unveiling, with games
lineup and potential release & pricing details. All we know so far is
Oculus is planning to launch the Rift during the first quarter of 2016, where
it will go head-to-head with the HTC Vive, and potentially Sony’s Project
Morpheus.
Details are scarce, but we're expecting full specs for the
consumer model, as well as details on dedicated VR games in development. Oculus
has been pretty tight-lipped about games and experiences for the Oculus Rift,
but we know it's got a number of titles in the works, and it's sure to be
working on a credible launch lineup to make it a worthwhile purchase.
Late last week Oculus VR also announced the OculusRift recommended system requirements; a base set of system
specifications towards which all Oculus games will be tailored specifically
for. Time to bust out the wallets it seems...
