Nvidia has released its latest Game Ready driver, and its
headline feature is optimising TheWitcher 3: Wild Hunt for GeForce graphics card users. The 352.68
WHQL drivers should, Nvidia claim, offer you the best possible gaming
experience for Geralt’s latest outing, including SLI support and one-click
performance optimisations.
The graphics card manufacturer has come under some fire for
its Nvidia Gameworks integration with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, which adds
Nvidia-exclusive effects and optimisations. While some of the effects, such as
Hairworks, will run on AMD cards, The Witcher 3 is not optimised to do so and
it will have a heavy performance impact. Watching Geralt's real-time beard
growth sway serenely in the breeze comes at a price, unfortunately.
You can see all of the Nvidia Gameworks features in The
Witcher 3 during the video below, including Nvidia Hairworks, GameWorks
Destruction, and PhysX Clothing.
he move has understandably ruffled a few feathers in the
team red camp, with specific graphic features locked down to certain families
of cards. AMD has been pretty open about sharing things like Mantle and
TressFX, so we’ll have to see how this one plays out
.
Anyway, back to the drivers, and the 352.68 release also
includes the usual application profiles and SLI support for a host of games,
including the aforementioned Witcher 3, plus Magicka 2, and Civilization:
Beyond Earth.
You can grab the drivers here now,
and then you’re good to go for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt when it launches at
12PM BST tonight.
