It's not long to go now until E3 2015 is upon us. The yearly
extravaganza circled on every gamer's' calendar, this year is set to be more
packed than ever. No fewer than eight press conferences have been confirmed,
with Square Enix and Bethesda getting in on the action for the first time ever.
PC gaming is also given another boost with the first PC-dedicated conference,
hosted by AMD. Here we can expect all sorts of PC-exclusive goodies and
announcements from the top-tier studios.
To help you keep track of the comings and goings at this
year's E3, we've compiled a list of all the press conferences, when they're
happening, and what games the publishers are likely to be showing. Keep this
one bookmarked because we'll be updating it with press conference links and
additional details throughout the run up, and during E3 2015.
Bethesda: Sunday, June 14 at 7PM PT / 10PM ET / 3AM BST
Hosting an E3 press conference for the first ever time,
Bethesda surely has a lot to show this year. Top billing will undeniably go to Fallout 4, but
we’re also expecting more on the future of The
Elder Scrolls Online, our first look at Doom 4, possibly a
slice of Battlecry, and we’re hoping Dishonored 2.
Hit all these notes and E3 is kicked off with a bang.
Microsoft: TBA - Estimate: Monday, June 15 at 9:30AM PT /
12:30PM ET / 5:30PM BST
We’re expecting Microsoft to have a mixed bag this year,
attempting to juggle two audiences simultaneously with the Xbox One and Windows
10. The integration of the two platforms is likely to be key here, with a
number of cross-platform titles sure to be detailed. Expect plenty on Fable
Legends, Halo 5: Guardians, Forza Motorsport 6, a Gears of War remake (and possibly
Gears of War 4?), a brand new game from Rare, a Crackdown 3 reveal, and a hefty
look at Rise of the Tomb Raider. That, and the usual third-part glut, including
Call of Duty: Black Ops III.
EA: Monday, June 15 at 1PM PT / 4PM ET / 9PM BST
EA isn’t exactly the type to play its cards close to its
chest. Star Wars Battlefront is sure to be a frontrunner, as is Mass Effect 4,
Mirror’s Edge 2, and Need for Speed. The yearly sports titles will get their
token run-outs, and we also wouldn’t be surprised to see a fully-fledged Dragon
Age: Inquisition expansion detailed. Oh, and more Plants vs Zombies. Peggle 3
will be disappointingly absent.
Ubisoft: TBA - Estimate: Monday, June 15 at 3PM PT / 6PM
ET / 11PM BST
As per usual Ubisoft will have plenty on show at E3. More on
Assassin’s Creed Syndicate is assured, as is Rainbow Six: Siege, and The
Division. If I was a betting man I’d put money on a release window for the
latter. It seems a little too early for Watch Dogs 2, but Child of Light 2 is
likely, as is a re-reveal of Brothers in Arms: Furious 4. Or maybe I’m getting
a little ahead of myself.
Sony: TBA - Estimate: Monday, June 15 at 6PM PT / 9PM ET
/ 2AM BST
Sony’s leading the console race by a huge margin, but
despite mammoth sales figures it still feels like the PlayStation 4 hasn’t
really got into its stride yet. Must-have exclusives are key, so expect
Uncharted 4, Until Dawn, Ratchet & Clank and more. In terms of surprises,
we anticipate this conference will have the most. Sony’s slate is fairly blank
at the moment, it’s about time we found out what all those studios are working
on.
Nintendo: TBA - Estimate: Tuesday, June 16 at 9AM PT /
12PM ET / 5PM BST
Nintendo being Nintendo, it doesn’t actually have a live
conference at E3 anymore, but will instead be hosting its now-regular E3
Direct. If previous years are anything to go by then this will be a jawdropper,
packed with first-party exclusives and the latest news. Leaks are few and far
between from the Kyoto giants, so expect games to crop up from out of the blue.
There’s no Legend of Zelda Wii u unfortunately, but we’re sure to see more of
Yoshi’s Woolly World, Xenoblade Chronicles X, Starfox Wii U, and stacks more.
Don't go expecting any news on Nintendo's next console, the NX, just yet.
Square Enix: Estimate: Tuesday, June 16 at 9AM PT / 12PM
ET / 5PM BST
2015 also marks the first time Square Enix has got in on the
press conference gig. The Japanese publisher has got its fingers in plenty of
pies now, from homeland titles like Final Fantasy XV, Kingdom Hearts III and
Star Ocean V, through to PC-bound western heavyweights such as Deus Ex: Mankind
Divided, Rise of the Tomb Raider, and Just Cause 3. Expect surprises to be few
and far between, first gameplay looks at many of these titles are what we
anticipate, but that sounds great in its own right. One reveal is likely to
happen, and that is Hitman 6, whatever form that takes.
PC Gaming Show: Tuesday, June 16 at 5PM PT / 8PM ET / 1AM
BST
The first time there’s ever been a PC-dedicated conference
at E3, this could be very exciting indeed. Or a damp squib. Time will tell. A
number of big names are rocking up, including PC stalwarts like Blizzard,
Bohemia Interactive, Cloud Imperium Games, Paradox, and Obsidian. What’s going
to happen here we have no idea, but it should provide some interest heading
towards the show floor opening up.
