A leaked image has revealed the next Assassin’s Creed,
reportedly now known as Assassin’s
Creed: Syndicate, will feature not one, but two playable characters. In
a rarity for Assassin’s Creed, one of protagonists in Assassin's Creed
Syndicate will be female.
The leak comes ahead if a full reveal of the game this
evening, and indicates the two playable characters will be brother and sister -
Jacob and Evie. In a break from the new norm, the same leak suggests there will
be no multiplayer component whatsoever to the game previously known as
Assassin’s Creed: Victory.
It marks a change of direction for the series, and the first
time in an age where Ubisoft has taken on board negative feedback from previous
games. AC: Unity suffered a backlash after its E3 2014 showing when Ubisoft
claimed implementing female characters would be too costly (Despite AC:
Liberation's Aveline), but it’s all change this time around.
In Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate, Jacob and Evie become
wrapped up in the Victorian London underworld, and players will be able to
switch between the characters at will while free-roaming. Story missions will
be character-specific, with the majority playable as Jacob.
