Assassin’s
Creed Syndicate has been announced, and it takes place in London
in 1868. Set during the Industrial Revolution, it’s a time of great upheaval
and change as productivity goes through the roof. A world ruled by science,
medicine, and money.
The working classes either worked hard and died young, or
got involved in crime. Large networks of criminals would form syndicates
together, and AC: Syndicate’s two protagonists, Jacob Frye and his sister Evie,
are both members of a huge criminal organisation. Expect dubious cockney
accents aplenty, particular from gang leader Bloody Nora and her crew.
Ubisoft bill Assassin's Creed Syndicate as the fastest-paced
AC yet, with a renewed focus on melee combat. Guns were illegal and so hidden
blades are more necessary and lethal than ever. Also new is a rope launcher,
allowing buildings to be climbed in seconds, or zipline from rooftop to
rooftop. Vehicles will be appearing for the first time ever, with Jacob and
Evie capable of commanded horse carts to race down the claustrophobic London
streets - Grand Theft Creed indeed.
Gang battles will be necessary to take over boroughs, possibly
as a replacement for climbing towers? In these huge teams of brawlers will
square off against one another, with the winner taking all.
Assassin’s Creed Syndicate is out on October 23rd for
PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, with a PC release slated for Autumn.
