It’s certainly taken its merry old time but AMD has released
its latest drivers, the Catalyst 15.5 beta drivers. These long-awaited drivers
are targeted at two recently released games which have suffered from poor
performance on AMD hardware - The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Project CARS.
The changelogs for the drivers indicate AMD users can expect
roughly 10% performance increases on single-GPU Radeon R9 and R7 setups in The
Witcher 3, and a 17% boost for users with multi-GPU Radeon R9 or R7 series in
Project CARS.
The driver update also includes CrossFire profiles for The
Witcher 3. Unfortunately one of the known issues is poor performance in The
Witcher 3 for CrossFire users, as well as random flickering. AMD suggest
disabling anti-aliasing, and if this fails then disable CrossFire. Not the best
fix for power users trying to make the most of their multi-GPU setups.
If you’ve got yourself an AMD Radeon graphics card or mobile
or integrated AMD GPUs, then you’d well to head on over to the AMD Catalyst
15.5 beta driver download page and grab this.
If you've given this driver a go, let us know below if
you've noticed any improvement in performance in either of these titles!
