Apple iPhone 6: Should You Wait for the Next iPhone?

Apple iPhone 6Launched in September last year, the iPhone 6 was the second time that the iPhone grew in size from 4 inches to 4.7 inches. It was finally big enough for most of the users, and at 4 inches, Apple held the iPhone’s potential back considering the ever increasing demand for big phones.
Now that the iPhone 6 is finally big enough, the next question that arises is “Is it good enough in 2015?”. It is a good question, and needs to be answered looking at what your expectations are. Although an extremely subjective topic, I try to look at the reasons that the iPhone 6 is still a very good option in 2015.
Before we get in to the intricacies of the phone, let us take a look at what the iPhone 6 comes with.
iPhone 6
Apple launched the iPhone 6 back in September 2014, with a 4.7 inch display and a screen resolution of 1334 x 750 pixels. Slightly odd for the regular Android readers here, the pixel density comes in at ~326 PPI, just around Apple’s Retina resolution brand. With the new bigger display, Apple has used an Apple A8 dual core processor and 1 GB RAM. The internal storage ranges from 16 GB to 128 GB.
The iPhone 6 comes with an 8 MP camera, dual LED flash, phase detection autofocus and optical image stabilization. It can recording 1080p videos at a smooth 60 FPS. On the front there is a 1.2 MP camera. A 1810 mAh battery powers the iPhone 6.

Why iPhone 6?

Because it is a great phone. It is not even an year old yet, so this question could come across as rhetorical, but it bears repeating that the iPhone 6 is a great phone. While it came with a bunch of software issues at launch, Apple has pushed out updates to iOS fast and as at iOS 8.3, things are relatively smooth and bug-free.

The Camera

The iPhone 6 has a great camera. It is a smartphone first, but Apple has dedicated a lot of research behind the improvement of the camera experience on iPhones. The camera app is blazing fast and that is one of the things I really, really wish we had on Android. The HDR mode is one of the best implementations on smartphones.
The main point is that Apple doesn’t want you to be a professional to shoot great pictures. Even at just 8 MPs, the iPhone 6 manages to click great pictures on a consistent basis with great dynamic range and near perfect white balance. The higher 1.5µm pixel size is only a bonus as this allows Apple to do a lot more work with the optimization of photos.

Apple Pay

One of the headline features of the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus launches was Apple Pay. While Google has been busy for years trying to get its Wallet service off the ground, it has not really succeeded in doing anything staggering. Google’s languished behind even though it was years ahead in terms of to-the-market considerations.
Apple Pay lets you collate all your debit and credit cards to a single service. After linking is done, it lets you pay with your iPhone 6 at most of the VISA, Mastercard or other partners’ services. All you need to do is use the fingerprint scanner support to authorize the payment. With just a tap of a button required for payment, you can start enjoying shopping again.

iOS 9 brings a lot of needed features to iOS

iOS has lacked in features for a while now but that is changing with iOS 9. One of the best new additions to iOS, the iOS 9 update brings a lot of features that users have been requesting for a long time now. Proactive Siri, Spotlight improvements, enhanced multitasking support, multi-window support are some of the main additions to iOS 9.
iOS 9 also improves battery life drastically, letting you use your phone more than bothering about the battery levels.
